The Great Rift Valley
The Great Rift Valley passes through Ethiopia making it rich
in various species of birds, plants and animals.
Lake Tana is the largest lake with 37 islands of which
20 islands have churches and monasteries of great
historical and cultural interest.
Lake Abaya in Arbaminch is not only the largest but
also the longest in the Ethiopian Rife Valley.
At Lake Abaya and Lake Chamo (an angler’s paradise)
one can fish the Nile perch’ which could weigh 100
kilograms and also catch the fighting ‘Tiger fish.
Lake shalla is the deepest lake with a depth of 260
meters.
Lake Langano is the only lake with a sandy beach and
is ideal for swimming and boating .
